This is the class I wish was available when I first started woodworking. If you are just starting out or looking to ‘raise your game,’ this class is for you. As an introduction to furniture making, the skill you learn will put you on a path to understanding fine craftsmanship. Even hobbyists can build heirloom furniture with well-tuned hand tools and a few basic power tools.
In this class, you will learn to tune and sharpen your hand tools as well as safety and operation skills for the basic power tools necessary for most fine woodworking projects. The class is designed to get you up and running in the shortest time possible. The final project is the making of a step stool – bench with through dovetails and wedged mortise and tenon.
Students will learn:
- The Importance of Acquiring Good Tools and How
- Physical Properties of Wood
- Sharpening Edge Tools including:
- Plane Blades
- Card Scrapers
- Through Dovetails
- Half-blind Dovetails
- Mortise and Tenon
Tuition does not include $75 in materials
