Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you do classes for kids?

A: Our general age requirement is 18 for now. Currently, our shop is geared toward people who are average-sized adults, so it would be a struggle for most children to work at our benches and machinery. We consider our Fundamentals courses to be college equivalent, and have found most children and teenagers aren’t quite ready for the commitment and challenges that are inevitable in woodworking to our standard.

That said, there are exceptions, and if your child is at least 16, tall enough to safely work in our shop and already has the necessary demeanor for the classes we could talk more about getting them in here. Also, we would like to develop some curriculum specifically for young people, but haven’t gotten there, yet!

Q: Will you offer your classes condensed into a week long session?

A: We’ve offered our Basic Cabinetmaking class as a 6-day class. As we work to improve our space, we anticipate we’ll be able to offer more condensed classes in the future.

Q: Do I need to bring my own tools?

A: Unless it is specified very explicitly in the course description, all necessary tools will be provided.
